Rose Mary, daughter of Wencel and Anna (Jindra) Tuma, was born 12 Aug 1889. We do not know too much about Rose Mary. We do know that she lived most of her life in California. She died 08 Jan 1966 in Sonoma County, California.
Rose first married Edward Charles. Edward was born in Ohio and died before 1920. The couple were married 1909 or before possibly in Montana.
In the St. Wenceslaus Church records we found the death of Anna, daughter of Edward Charles and Rose Tuma. The death of the child occurred on the 16th of September 1909. The child was 2 months and 15 days old. The word (Montana) is written next which leads us to believe the death or birth of the child happened in Montana. Rose’s brothers were living in Montana in 1909, so Rose could have been visiting them or living out there with them at the time of the child’s birth or death.
In 1910 we find Rose and her husband Edward living in Ward 8, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. Rose is listed as being the mother of one child who is not living. They were married for 2 years.
Another child was born to the couple. Felicia was born about 1916-1917 in California or Wisconsin.
In 1920 Rose Charles is listed as widowed living on 2537 Mission Street, District 25, San Francisco, California. Her daugher Felicia is living with her, listed as born in California.
Rose married Ambrose Sharp Dawson sometime before 1930.Ambrose was born 24 Jan 1889 in San Francisco, California. Ambrose died 07 May 1972 in Napa, California.
In the 1930 San Francisco census we found the family, Ambrose age 41 and Rose age 40. Ambrose and Rose owned $1800 worth of property. Ambrose is listed as a laborer in a coffee house. Living with them is Rose’s daughter Felicia Dawson (listed as a stepdaughter of Ambrose). She is 13 years old (born about 1917) in Wisconsin. The Wisconsin birth conflicts with the 1910 census showing Felicia born in California.
My father remembers meeting Felicia once or twice.
