1136 | Hugo Freis, 72, of 1222A S. Seventh St., Manitowoc, died Monday morning at the home after a heart attack. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, the Rev. T.F. Uetzmann officiating. Burial will be in Mishicot Public Cemetery. Mr. Freis was born April 28, 1892, in the Town of Mishicot, son of the late Fred and Katherine Lenhardt Freis. He farmed in the town of Mishicot until 1944 when he moved to Two Rivers and was employed by Paragon Electric Co. and Boehringer Fuel Co. until his retirement in 1958. Survivors are a niece and three nephews. Three sisters preceded him in death.Friends may call after 6 o'clock this Tuesday evening at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Ninth street entrance, Manitowoc, until noon Wednesday when the casket will be moved to the church where the body will lie in state until time of service. 1137 | HUGO S. SKWOR Hugo S. Skwor, 70, Mishicot, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital, Monday morning. Skwor was born at Mishicot on Nov. 14, 1896, son of the late Joseph and Rose Kriwanek Skwor. He was associated with his father in the meat business for a number of years prior to taking it over. He retired from the business in 1961 when his two sons, Peter and Paul, took over the family operation. Surviving are his wife, the former, Florence Nachtwey, whom he married in June, 1925; two sons, Paul and Peter; two daughters, Mrs. Lois Greer, Goshen, Indiana, Mrs. John (Victoria) Kellner, Two Rivers; two sisters, Mrs. John E. (Eva) TePoorten of Manitowoc, Mrs. Ray (Clara) Kaufman, Mishicot; a brother, Charles, Milwaukee; 13 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mishicot, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Anthony Betley officiated at the rite. Father Ronald Columbo will officiate with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Ida was born August 31, 1904, daughter of the late Anton and Margaret (Remiker) Denk in Manitowoc County. Ida married Charles Grall in Clarks Mills on June 23, 1920; he preceded her in death on December 15, 1980. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Cooperstown, the Christian Mothers’ Altar Society at the church. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Lester and Bernice Grall, Laguna Hills, Calif.; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Shirley and Mike Keehan, Denmark, Gladys and Roy Hargraves, Manitowoc, Emojean Meidl, Weyauwega, Charlotte and Chuck Ruzek, Lakewood, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren. 1150 | ILLNESS FATAL TO CATO WOMAN Mrs. Frances Kohlbeck Dies At Green Bay Hospital Mrs. Frances Kohlbeck, 54, of Cato, died at 7 o'clock this morning at St. Vincent's hospital at Green Bay where she had been confined for the last month.She had been ill of a complication of diseases for 11 weeks. The body was taken in the E.J. Shimon undertaking parlors at Reedsville and will be removed to the residence at Cato Tuesday afternoon. The funeral will be held Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from St. Mary's Catholic church at Clarks Mills. The Rev. F.X. Kheil will officiate and burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Mrs. Kohlbeck who before her marriage was Frances Vogel, was born at Clarks Mills February 4, 1878. Thirty-eight years ago she was married to Joseph Kohlbeck. They were residing at Cato when Mr. Kohlbeck died five years ago. Surviving relatives are four daughters, Mrs. Jake Vogel of Whitelaw, Mrs. John Spaeth of Manitowoc, Marian and Dorothy at home; four sons, Frank of Sawyer, Raymond, Michael and Leo at home; two brothers, Louis Vogel of Cato and Joe of Marshfield; three sisters, Mrs. Anton Kohlbeck, Mrs. Frank Tushel of Clarks Mills and Mrs. Joseph Klapatch of Maplewood and 11 grandchildren.
