2215 | Services Held for Civil War Widow Funeral services were conducted today at the Washington Veterans Home at Retsil for Mrs. Eliza D. White, 98-year-old widow of a Civil War veteran, who died in Tacoma Sunday. Pendleton Funeral Parlors were in charge. Mrs. White was born in the state of Ohio on April 18, 1842 and in 1924 entered the Retsil dome with her husband, George White, who died in 1926. 2228 | Sheboygan Press (Sheboygan, Wisconsin) 1944 April 8 Infant Daughter Dies at Hospital Here on Friday Kiel-Patricia Lou Olm, 1 year and ten month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Olm, Town Meeme, passed away at 12: 30 a.m. on Friday at St. Nichol as hospital in Sheboygan following an operation which took place about s ix weeks ago. She was born in Town Meeme on May 14, 1942, at the farm home of her parent s. Among the survivors are her father and mother, the former Miss Ruth Streich of Manitowoc, a brother, Billy Roy and a sister, Ione Louise. Her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Olm of Town Meeme and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Streich of Manitowoc also survive with a great grandmother Mrs. M. Radey. Funeral services will be held on Monday afternoon at 1:15 o'clock at the Meiselwitz funeral home in Kiel and at 2 o'clock at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church in Schwartzwald. The Rev. Mrs. Ralph (Marion) Radey of 1422 N. 14th St. on the extortion charge, allegedly called Household Finance Company here July 30, and said she was holding the manager, WIlliam Savage. She allegedly threatened to harm him unless $1,000 was placed in a container on a certain street corner. A company employe compiled with her request and she allegedly picked up t he packet of money. Mrs. Radey was in Bridgeman to attend a wedding. Born in Chicago on Dec. 8, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Dimitri and Josephine Horon. She came to Sheboygan prior to her Jan. 25, 1941 marriage to Mr. Radey. He died in 1968. Mrs. Radey had been employed by Thomas Industries for about 25 years, retiring last January. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Mary Ann Backus of Bethel, Ohio; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild; two brother Joseph Horon of Sheboygan and John of Bridgman, Mich. Preceding in death was a brother and granddaughter. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Nickel's Funeral Home with the Rev. Vernon Jaberg, pastor of St. John UCC, officiating. Mott had ridden to Manitowoc with a man who left him off at the Tenth street bridge when the missing man said he planned to attend a meeting. Sheboygan police informed of this report kept a lookout but up to noon today had no trace of the missing man. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Melnick Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Charles Freuden officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Mott was born in the Town of Gibson December 23, 1883, a son of the late George and Sarah Haese Mott. He married Anne Chaloupka, Sept. 29, 1909 and she preceded him in death Jan. 30, 1950. Shupita, 86, of Francis Creek, who died Tuesday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville, and at 10 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, Francis Creek. The Rev. John Haen will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Shupita was born Feb. 20, 1879, in the Town of Gibson, son of the late Jacob and Catherine Lestina Shupita. He married Emma Sladky Sept. 28, 1910, at St. Ann Church and the couple resided on the Shupita homestead farm. In 1914, he established a blacksmith shop at Francis Creek and followed cne trade 64 years, retiring a year ago. Mr. Shupita had spent two winters with his son-in-law and daughter and had resided with them since August. He is survived by his wife, a daughter , Mrs. Wencel F. (Mabel) Dufek, of Manitowoc, a son, Harry, of Manitowoc, three grandchildren and a great grandchild. A son, two brothers and a sister preceded him in death. Friends may call at the funeal home where at 8 o'clock this Wednesday evening the Rosary will be recited. 2246 | SHUPITA RITES TO BE TUESDAY Two Rivers Reporter Nov. 13, 1944 Aged Man to Be Buried in Mishicot Funeral services for Jacob Shupita, 96, who died Saturday at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hagenow, town of Gibson will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Specht Funeral Home at Mishicot, with burial at the Mishicot public cemetery. The Rev. Yaroslav Vrany, pastor of the Melnik Presbyterian church will officiate. Born in Bohemia in 1848, Mr. Shupita came to this country and the county at the age of 23 in 1871 and four years later was married to Kathleen Lestina. The couple has always made their home in the county and the wife preceded him in death. For 32 years he has made his home with his daughter and son-in-law. Survivors are the one daughter, Mrs. Hagenow, and three sons, Frank Shupita, Manitowoc, Jacob Shupita, North Hurley [sic], and Joseph Francis Creek. 2247 | Sidney Mott of Larrabee Dies After Accident Hemorrhaging from a severely crushed chest which he received when he crashed his car into a tree on Washington street about ?:30 Sunday morning Sidney Mott, 20-year-old Larrabee man, he died eight hours later in Holy Family hospital. The death, into which Coroner Theoore Teitgen said no inquest will be held, brings to an even dozen the number of persons to die as a result of traffic accidents in Manitowoc county this year. According to the recors of city police and information given coroner Teitgen, Mott, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Mott, who reside on a farm a short distance from Larrabee, had attended a dance there Saturday evening. Accompanied by a frien Emil Rezba, 38, also of Larrabee, the pair left the dance about 10 pm with Mott driving the car. They headed ? wedding dance at Manitowoc Rapids. Left Dance at 2 am Rezba told the coroner an police that they left the Rapids dance shortly after 2 o'clock Sunday morning and headed for Manitowoc. Mott according to Rezba's statement, had been drinking beer during the evening. Driving down Washington street, with Mott at the wheel, the car veered to the north side of the street just as they passed the 22nd street intersection, jumping the curb an crashed heaon into a tree in front of a house in the 2100 bloc. The force of the impact pushe the motor and dash board back against the men in the front seat. The steering wheel crushed Mott's chest. Both were taken to Holy Family hospital where Mott died at 10:15 Sunday morning. Dr. Teitgen sai Rezba ha sustained head injuries which are not considered serious. Funeral Tuesday Funeral services for Mott, an army veteran of World War II will be held at 2 pm Tuesday at the Specht funeral home in Mishicot and at 2:30 at the Melnik Presbyterian church with the Reverend Varoslav Vrany officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Providing a military escort and participating in the services at the church and cemetery will be members of the Kempen-Staudinger-Terens psot No. 7753 Veterans of Foreign Wars, of Mishicot of which the decease was a memer. Born in 1928, on his parents farm, a short distance south of Larrabee, the deceased attended public school in the town of Gibson, and prior to the outbreak of the recent war was employed at the Mishicot plant of the Western Condensing company. He entered the army in November, 1945, serving in this country until receiving his honorable discharge in April 1978. Since that time he ha again been employee in the Mishicot condensary. He was not married. Six sons in Service. Surviving in addition to the parents are 10 brothers, George and Willard Jr., of Larrabee Marvin of Reedsville, Russell of Newton, Omar and Milton of Two Rivers, Raymond, Melvin, Eugene an Stanley at home; four sisters, Mrs. Amand Marcell of Manitowoc, Mrs. Early Avery of Two Rivers and Eunice and Carol at home. five of the brothers, Omar, Milton, Raymond, Melvin and Eugene, also served in the army or Navy during the recent war. 2248 | Siegel Cup Goes To Senior Class Finals in declamation contest at high school are interesting Member of 1917 and freshman to represent school at Elmore. The finals in the High School Declamation Contest were held Wednesday and Thursday evening at the Auditorium. This was the first year of the contests and great interest was shown by the students of the local High School, in the innovation; students and faculty members alike are delighted over the result obatined (sic). Twenty-three girls and sixteen boys entered in the contest. Win Siegel Trophy Max Freitag, a senior, won first place in the contest for the boys, and Thelma Rinke, a freshman, was awarded first in the girls' contest. 2249 | Sister Casilda Former Door county resident Sister M. Casilda Rohr, 80, Wheaton, Ill. died there July 30. Funeral services were held there Friday at Our Lady of the Angel Mother House Chapel. The Rev. Wilbert Hegener officiated with interment at Assumption cemetery, Winfield, Ill. Sister Casilda was born in Forestville on August 19, 1894 to Mr. and Mrs. Julius Rohr. She entered the convent in 1912 and retired in 1971 in Wheaton. During those years she worked as a trained nurse in several hospitals. Surviving are sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Yano, New York; Mrs. Ed (Ethel) Reiman, Kenosha, and Mrs. Roy (Helen) Schaefer, Sturgeon Bay. Also surviving are brothers Alvin, Kewaunee; Joseph, Sturgeon Bay and John, Forestville. Two sisters and one brother preceded her in death. | CASILDA, Sr. M. (I6812)
