953 | Grall Mrs. Lawrence (Frances M.) Grall, 76, died unexpectedly late Tuesday evening, Jan. 6, at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Leo J. Schmitt will officiate and entombment will be in Knollwood Mausoleum, Town of Kossuth. MRs. Grall was born May 15, 1904, in the Township of Cato, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Anton and Clara Vogel Kohlbeck. She grew up in the Township of Cato and attended St. Mary Catholic School, Clarks Mills, moving to Manitowoc in 1929 and residing here since. She was married to Lawrence A. Grall Aug. 16, 1928, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. She was a member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church and Holy Innocents Altar and Rosary Society. Survivors include her husband, Lawrence; a son, Robert Grall of Manitowoc; two daughters, Mrs. Harry (Dolores) Kubsch of Cato and Mrs. Ellery (JoAnn) Riha of Houston, Texas; a brother Robert Kohlbeck of Clarks Mills; a sister, Mrs. Leonard (Marie) Alfson of Clarks Mills, 17 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, a grandson, a great granddaughter, two brothers and a sister. 954 | Grall Wilbert Grall, 63, of 316 S. Ashland Ave., Green Bay, died Wednesday morning at a Green Bay hospital after a heart attack. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Green Bay, and burial will be in Allouez Cemetery, Green Bay. Mr. Grall was born at Whitelaw, son of the late Wolfgang and Margaret Grall. He resided at Green Bay the past 28 years and married Ceil Champeau at Holy Groos, Bay Settlement. his wife died in 1943 and he later married Eleanor Van Egeren Leroy. She lived in Sturgeon Bay, her entire life. Born on July 23, 193 0, she was the daughter of D.C. and Marion Pisha. After graduating from St urgeon Bay High School in 1948, she attended the Business Institute of Mil waukee. On Oct. 10, 1953, she married Kenneth M. (Pooky) Tess. Kitty was t he President of Pisha Insurance Agency, Inc., established in 1924 by her f ather and after a long and dedicated career of over 50 years, she and h er sister, Terry retired from the business on Jan. 1, 2005. She was a devo ut member of Corpus Christi Parish and belonged to the Catholic Daughte rs of America, St. Ann’s Society and Sturgeon Bay Business & Profession al Women. She is survived by her husband, Pooky; her children, Diane, Milwaukee; Sus an (Robert) Haberli, Whitefish Bay; Mike (Jenny) Tess, Sturgeon Bay; and h er dear sister, Theresa (Howard) Bubnik, Sturgeon Bay. He was born Aug. 23, 1960, in Milwauk ee to Richard and Marsha Maas. In 1979, he graduated from Delano High Scho ol in Minnesota. After high school Bob attended and graduated from St. Clo ud Area Vocational and Technical School. Bob joined the U.S. Army and serv ed from 1981 to 1983 and continued in the Reserves until 1987. In 19 86 he graduated from UW-Stout. He moved to Green Bay in 1986 and began h is career in Machine Design. Bob had worked at Kimberly Clark, Hart Desi gn and Mfg. and had recently started his own business, Machine Design Tech nology. On April 17, 1993, he married Lisa Kolb. Bob was an outdoorsma n, an avid fisherman and hunter, and just loved being in the woods. In 199 4, Bob and Lisa built Bob’s dream house in the woods. Ed married the former Josephine Brans on June 22, 1932, in Green Bay. She preceded him in death April 12, 1978. Ed then married the former Marie (Coshenet) Maclean on De c. 15, 1981. Ed was self-employed as a master auto mechanic in Green Bay f or many years. He was a member of the Elks Club, The Green Bay Yacht Club and a Senior member of the Pazaza Club. Ed was a member of St. Willebrord Parish. He was an outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially his trips to the western states. Jindra, 74, of 237 Riverwood Dr., Mishicot, died Tuesday, June 2 7, 2000 at his residence after a brief illness. Roy was born June 11, 19 26 in Two Rivers, son of the late Alvin and Leona Meineke Jindra and has been a life long resident. Mr. Jindra was a 1944 graduate of Mishicot High School. He served in the United States Air Force in Japan during the early years of the Korean Conflict as a Radar Technician. He married the former Carol Grall at St. Peters Ev. Lutheran Church, July 28, 1956. He served as an apprentice for the George Schmidt Plumbing Company in Mishicot, and later purchased the business in 1955 where he owned and operated Jindra Plumbing and Heating until his retirement in 1988. Mr. Jindra was bapti zed and confirmed and was a very faithful member of St. Peters Ev. Luther an Church and was active in the church choir. He was a former member of t he Mishicot Lions Club. He was an accomplished pilot and a founding member of the Mishicot Flying Club, currently the Manitowoc Flying Club. He was also a former member of the Wisconsin Master Plumbers Association, as well as the Board of Control of Manitowoc Lutheran High School. Mr Jindra enjoyed playing the clarinet and saxophone for several area bands and orchestras during the 1950s. Survivors include his loving wife, Carol one daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Thomas Winter, Manitowoc four sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Julie Jindra, Manitowoc Scott and Ramona Jindra, Omro Michael and Ines Jindra, Mankato, Minn Peter and Joan Jindra, Green Bay ten grandchildren, Lindsey, Phillip, Justin, Jordon, Amie, Nathan, Zachary, Morgan, Audra and Rachel one sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Emil Schleis, Mishicot two br others and three sisters-in-law, Al and Billie Fey Jindra, Madison Dan a nd Patricia Jindra, Kiel Patricia and her husband, Kenneth Balusik, Menomonee Falls aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Simonar, 74, Green Bay, died peacefully after a short illness on Thursday, March 1, 2001 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born May 17, 1926 in Luxemburg, Wis., the son of the late John and Irene (Martin) Simonar. He served in the U.S. Navy for seven years, four of which were active duty during World War II. Norbert was stationed on the U.S.S. Dorchester as chief engineer. He married Nancy Romer in 1950. Norbert married Lois Bossell in 1968, and she died in 1994. He married Rosalyn Eleanor Cisler, June 4, 1998 at Resurrection Catholic Church. Norbert owned and operated Simonar's Midway Service for 35 years, retiring ten years ago. He w as a member of Resurrection Catholic Church, American Legion Post #262, Moose Lodge #801, VFW Post #2113, was an avid fisherman of Lake Michigan, a nd he enjoyed bowling, going to Oneida Bingo and Casino with his wife, and making maple syrup with his brothers. Norbert also had a summer ho me in Florida where he vacationed to the last 12 years during the winters. Survivors include his loving wife, Rosalyn a daughter, Sandra and Tom Maley of New Franken a son, William and Mary Simonar of Denmark two grandchildren four great-grandchildren three brothers, Gerald and Carol Simonar, Richard and Judy Simonar, and LeRoy and Pat Simonar, all of Luxemburg 39 nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Norbert was preceded in death by his parents his second wife, Lois an infa nt son and his two Scottish Terriers, Robbie and Mac. Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 4, 20 01 at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., DePere. On Sunday there wi ll be an American Legion service at 6:30 p.m., and a Parish Prayer service at 6:45 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday from 10 a.m. to 11 a. m. at Resurrection Catholic Church, Allouez. Mass of Christian Burial wi ll be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 5, 2001 at Resurrection Catholic Church, with Fr. Paul Demuth officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Luxemburg at 2 p.m. on Monday. A special thank you to Dr. Bayer at St. Vincent Hospital, along with the ninth floor nursing staff for their kindness and compassion, especially Holly and Audrey. Dec 1, 1975 - Carroll Daily Times - Lidderdale - Funeral services for Mrs. Gretchen Catherine Sporleder, 85, of Lidderdale were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church here. The Rev. Albert T. Bostelmann officiated. Congregational hymns were "I Am Trusting Thee, Lord Jesus" and "Beautiful Savior". A.L. Daenzer was organist. Pallbearers were Carl Sporleder, Ervin Sporleder, Lawrence Sporleder, Emil Kurth, Elmer Fricke, and Oliver Wenck. Interment was in the church cemetery, under direction of the Dahn-Woodhouse Funeral Home of Carroll. Mrs. Sporleder, widow of Arnold Sporleder, was dead upon arrival at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll at 8:45 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28. She was born July 19, 1890, at Osfrieslund, Germany, a daughter of Rudolph and Martha Gerdes Faber. She had been a resident of this area since 1909, coming from Germany. On Oct. 28, 1919, she married Mr. Sporleder at Carroll. Surviving are four children, Fritz of Carroll, Mrs. Ted (Martha) Hoemann of Indianapolis, Ind., Mrs. Harold (Catherine) Rudi of Anaheim, Calif., and Robert of Charter Oak; 12 grandchildren and a brother, Carl Faber of Lidderdale. 979 | Hamlet Founder, Fischer, is Dead Manitowoc-John R. Fischer, 72, of 502 York St., founder of the hamlet of Fischerville in the town of Mishicot(sic) and retired cheesemaker and tavern operator, died Thursday at the Holy Family Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monay(sic) at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home. The Rev. Theophil F. Uetzman will officiate and interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. He was born in Gibson in 1881 and in 1904 married Miss Anna Kunz. He farmed in the town of Gibson for two years and then took up the short course of agriculture at the University of Wisconsin, and learned the cheesemaking trade. He established a cheese factor at the small hamlet west of the village of Mishicot, which later bore his name. He also operated a tavern, general store and blacksmith shop in that community. In 1918 Mr. and Mrs. Fischer moved to this city and he took over the Green Bay House on Chicago Street. Later he operated the Riverview Tavern on North Tenth Street and the Virginia Tavern on Commercial Street. He retired in 1946. Surviving are his wife: three daughters, Mrs Merrill Boucher, and Mrs. Harold Gauthier, of Rt. 2 Manitowoc, and Mrs. Lester Gauthier of Reedsville; son Alvin of Rt. 1 Manitowoc; half brother William Fischer of Manitowoc; 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. On May 27, 1950 he married Bernice Carstens at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Newtonburg. Harold was employed at the Manitowoc County Highway department and also at Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Richard H. Heymen with burial at St. Mary Cemetery, Clarks Mills. Mr. Lemberger was born January 20, 1905, in the Town of Cato, son of the late Ferdinand and Catherine Gerber Lemberger. He was a graduate of the Agricultural Course at University of Wisconsin-Madison. He married the former Julia Radey on June 19, 1934. She preceded him in death April 3, 1954. On November 25, 1955, he married Leona Riederer. Mr. Lemberger operated a farm in the Town of Cato until 1960 and then moved to Whitelaw. He was an independent Insurance Agent and owned and operated The Harold Lemberger Insurance Agency for many years. He was a representative of the Catholic Knights Insurance Society and was on the Board of Directors of Manitowoc County Mutual Fire Insurance Company of which he was present treasurer. Mr. Lemberger was a member of Holy Name Society of St. Michael Church, member of Whitelaw Senior Citizens and a former member of Whitelaw Lions Club. Survivors include his wife, Leona, three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert and Susan Lemberger of Manitowoc, Richard and Marcia Lemberger of Shoto and Mark Lemberger of Denver, Colorado; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Marilyn and Bill Weier of Saegertown, Pennsylvania and Lynn and Dan Celesk of Fond du Lac; two sisters, Anna Tisler of Whitelaw and Katherine Husted of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; four brothers-in-law, REv. Edward Radey, George Radey, August Riederer and Robert Riederer, three sisters-in-law, Hilda Pankratz, Ann Riederer and Irene Riederer, nieces, nephews and other relatives survive. 999 | He worked in a chair factory in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Later, he moved to Rib Lake, Wisconsin where he met his wife. The date of Louis's death is unknown. He was hunting when he disappeared. He was found several months later in the February time period by a trapper. The trapper had noticed a wolf circling around a certain area in the woods, as if to avoid something. Upon investigation, the trapper discovered Louis. There remains a mystery whether Louis committed suicide , was killed by an accidental shooting or was shot by another hunter.
