VIRGIL D. AVERY
Virgil E. (sic) Avery, 56, of 1144 S. 24th St., Manitowoc, died early Friday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, following a heart attack.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Wesley Methodist Church with the Rev. Donald T. Stannard officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Avery was born March 8, 1904, at Manitowoc, son of the late Archie and Ernestine Grosse Avery. He attended Manitowoc schools and as a young man moved with his parents to Two Rivers and worked at Hamilton Mfg. Co. He married Pauline Frozena Sept. 25, 1935, at Manitowoc. He later worked at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc. The family moved back to Manitowoc in 1943. He was a member of the Two Rivers Masonic Lodge No. 200, Free and Accepted Masons, was past excellent high priest, Manitowoc chapter No. 16 of Royal Arch Mason, member of Manitowoc Council No. 18, Royal and Select Masters, Manitowoc Commandery No. 45, Tripoli Shrine of Milwaukee, Manitowoc-Two Rivers Shrine Club, advisory council of DeMolay order and Manitowoc Eagles Aerie No. 706.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, (private); a sister, Mrs. Lawrence Harmon of Two Rivers; two brothers, Loren of Manitowoc and Earl of Two Rivers. One brother, Donald, preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 3 p.m. Sunday and until 10:30 a.m. Monday when the body will be moved to the church to lie in state. Masonic memorial services are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Two
Rivers Masonic Lodge 200 in charge.
