  	BERTHA CHRISTIANSEN The wife of Mr. Christiansen of this city died on Tuesday of this week. She was a young woman of estimable qualities. Manitowoc Pilot Thursday, Aug. 18, 1881 ******** CHRISTIANSEN—In this city, Aug. 16th, BERTHA wife of M. CHRISTIANSEN in the 29th year of her age. While the summer breezes are still wantonly toying amid the beauties of nature in their fullness and glory, there are a few upon whose sense of hearing the soft footsteps of death awakens ??? Still, the silent wanderer strays about and while his gentle touch shuts out the light of love from eyes that are weary, hushes the throb of hearts warm with affection, healing and soothing on the one hand, lacerating and wounding on the other, time rolls on, material nature changes its form, and God calls that to his keeping and care that is immortal and sprung from the fountain of his great joys and goodness. Tuesday found our neighbor, Mr. M. Christiansen and his little seven year old daughter standing beside the lifeless remains of a dearly beloved wife and affectionate mother. It was but a short struggle, a few hours and a separation was consummated having but memory to turn its sorrowful loss to the past of happy years and hope, to dream its possibilities of a reunion of hearts in the unknown hereafter. Mrs. C. was a true woman, a true, affectionate wife and mother, and her departure from life an irreparable loss to the hearts that fondly lived in the sunshine of her genial nature. May the beneficent Author of our being, whose hand tempers the wind to the born lamb comfort father and child in their hour of mourning, we can but extend our sympathy.
