  	Hamlet Founder, Fischer, is Dead Manitowoc-John R. Fischer, 72, of 502 York St., founder of the hamlet of Fischerville in the town of Mishicot(sic) and retired cheesemaker and tavern operator, died Thursday at the Holy Family Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monay(sic) at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home. The Rev. Theophil F. Uetzman will officiate and interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. He was born in Gibson in 1881 and in 1904 married Miss Anna Kunz. He farmed in the town of Gibson for two years and then took up the short course of agriculture at the University of Wisconsin, and learned the cheesemaking trade. He established a cheese factor at the small hamlet west of the village of Mishicot, which later bore his name. He also operated a tavern, general store and blacksmith shop in that community. In 1918 Mr. and Mrs. Fischer moved to this city and he took over the Green Bay House on Chicago Street. Later he operated the Riverview Tavern on North Tenth Street and the Virginia Tavern on Commercial Street. He retired in 1946. Surviving are his wife: three daughters, Mrs Merrill Boucher, and Mrs. Harold Gauthier, of Rt. 2 Manitowoc, and Mrs. Lester Gauthier of Reedsville; son Alvin of Rt. 1 Manitowoc; half brother William Fischer of Manitowoc; 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
