  Immigration Information: In the Hamburg Sailing records we find the following entry that matches the time period and family of August Jonas from Germany. The only discrepency is the place of birth of August. We have no proof of where August was born, so we believe that this entry is the August Jonas in question. Dates of departure, family members, and port of arrival follow with the other informaition we have. Here is the translation of the record: Jonas, August, Frau u 2 Kdr 1/2 3 J. Which is: Jonas, August. Wife and 2 children (ages) 1/2 and 3 years. Place of birth: Neustet, Thueringen. This probably refers to Neustaed t, a village just west and slightly north of Eisenach, in Thuringia, central Germany. That's Neustadt with an Umlaut over the a which I can't type in email. Neustet is just an inaccurate transliteration of the correct spel ling Neustaedt, I think. Ship was the Vorwaerts, prussian, Capt. J. Finck. Destination was Quebec, sailing date 19 June, and then LXXX which stan ds for ??? Information in the First German Church Manitowoc County and Kewaunee County Church records "The family later Moved to Kewaunee". It is believed the family did not m ove residences, but instead changed church affiliations.
