- IRA BEYER DIES AT MISHICOT THIS MORNING
Pioneer Banker, Jury Commissioner and Manufacturer Passes Away at Home Ira Beyer, 68, one of the pioneer residents of Manitowoc county, former member of the county board, and who was also a member of the board of jury commissioners of Manitowoc county, since it was first appointed here by Judge Gil?on, passed away at ???? o'clock this morning, at the family home at Mishicot.
The deceased underwent an operation at the hospital here about eight weeks ago, and was later removed to his home, where he failed rapidly and passed away early today.
The deceased built and operated the electric light plant in the village of Mishicot, which he continued to manage until he disposed of it to the Wisconsin Public Service company. He was a member of the village school board at Mishicot and also served as a member of the county board of supervisors, representing the village of Mishicot.
The deceased has been one of the prominent residents of Mishicot for years, and was president of the State Bank of Mishicot, was proprietor of a cement works, and of the electric light plant, and a contractor of bridges. He was born on the old Beyer homestead farm in the town of Mishicot, was educated in the district schools of the town and has always made his home in Mishicot. He established a cement works at Mishicot, in 1905 manufacturing cement blocks and also engaged extensively in the construction of concrete bridges. He was one of the organizers of the State Bank of Mishicot, was elected its first president, which he held until he retired a few years ago.
On January 3, 1887 Mr. Beyer married Rose Nocker, who survives him together with two daughters, Mrs. Louis Reyroth and Eunice, one son Hans, and a sister, Miss Emma Beyer.
The deceased was a member of the Masonic order, which order will have charge of the funeral. Burial will take place Wednesday afternoon, at two o'clock,from the Beyer home in the village in charge of Masonic Blue Lodge No. 200 of Two Rivers.
