  	Fire Levels new motel Pine HIll - Fire of undetermined origin early Friday levelled the 18-unit Highmount Motel on Route 28 in the Town of Shandaken. The fire was discovered by the owner, Jerry Knizak who turned in the alarm at approximately 9:30 a.m. The structure had only been completed early this summer, according to reports. No estimate of the loss was available, but it is believed to be partly covered by insurance. Fire departments from a wide area responded to the call, incuding Pine Hill, Fleischmanns, Margaretville, Chandaken, Phoenicia and Big Indian. According to Fleischmanns Fire Chief Robert Todd, lack of available water hampered efforts of the firemen in their efforts to contain the fire; several units being necessary to bring water to the scne of the blaze. The Oneonta Star, Oneonta, New York Sat, Nov 09, 1968 ·Page 3 ========= Oil Burner Believed to be Fire Source A faulty oil burner may have caused the fire which destroyed the High Mount Motel, in the foothills of the catskill mountains, in Ulster county, near Margaretville yesterday. Although fire officials are still investigating the fire, the oil burner theory is the most likely, according to the Pine Hill Fire Department. Five fire companies from surrounding communities fought the flames which destroyed the 14-unit structure built only a year ago by its owner Jerome Knizak, of Highmount. Firemen were forced to truck in loads of water to fight the fire because no water was available at the site, according to a spokeman for the Pine Hill fire department.   	The victim of the bulldozer fatal accident was identified by Kingston State Police as 47-year-old Vlastimil Jerry Knizak of the Town of Shandaken community of Highmount. According to investigating officers from the Kingston Zone Headquarter at lake Katrine, Knizak was operating a bulldozer on this property shortly before 1 p.m. yesterday when it is beleived he backed the machine into a truck that was parked near where he was working. Troopers said the victim of the mishap was crushed between the seat and dashboard of the bulldozer. It was sometime before the fatally injured man could be removed. He was rushed by ambulance to the hospital in Margaretville where he was reportedly pronounced dead on arrival. Investigators said Knizak was operating a machine owned by Howard Van Loan of Highmount the time of the accident. Dr. Charles Huggins, an assistant coroner of Delaware County, investigated with troopers. Dr. Huggins reported after an examination of the body taht the victim's death was caused by a severed spinal cord and crushed chest and abdomen. The body was taken from the hospital to a local funeral home. Investigating the death were Bureau of Criminal Investigation officer Fred C. Cooper, Sergeant Henry S. Rhodes, and Trooper R. C.
