Gretchen was the daughter of Rudolph Faber and Martha Gerdes. She married Arnold Sporleder on Oct 28, 1919 at Carroll, IA. They were the parents of Frederick, Martha, Catherine, and Robert.


Dec 1, 1975 - Carroll Daily Times - Lidderdale - Funeral services for Mrs. Gretchen Catherine Sporleder, 85, of Lidderdale were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church here. The Rev. Albert T. Bostelmann officiated. Congregational hymns were "I Am Trusting Thee, Lord Jesus" and "Beautiful Savior". A.L. Daenzer was organist. Pallbearers were Carl Sporleder, Ervin Sporleder, Lawrence Sporleder, Emil Kurth, Elmer Fricke, and Oliver Wenck. Interment was in the church cemetery, under direction of the Dahn-Woodhouse Funeral Home of Carroll.

Mrs. Sporleder, widow of Arnold Sporleder, was dead upon arrival at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll at 8:45 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28. She was born July 19, 1890, at Osfrieslund, Germany, a daughter of Rudolph and Martha Gerdes Faber. She had been a resident of this area since 1909, coming from Germany. On Oct. 28, 1919, she married Mr. Sporleder at Carroll.

Surviving are four children, Fritz of Carroll, Mrs. Ted (Martha) Hoemann of Indianapolis, Ind., Mrs. Harold (Catherine) Rudi of Anaheim, Calif., and Robert of Charter Oak; 12 grandchildren and a brother, Carl Faber of Lidderdale.

A granddaughter preceded her in death in addition to her husband.

Gretchen married SPORLEDER, Arnold August on 28 Oct 1919. Arnold (son of SPORLEDER, Friedrich and WERNER, Franziska) was born on 15 Mar 1889 in Carroll, Iowa, United States; died on 25 Apr 1971; was buried in Carroll, Carroll, Iowa, United States. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
