    Marie Leona Gustafson


    Marie Leona Gustafson, age 89, a resident of the Hamilton Memorial Home in Two Rivers, died Thursday, April 22, 2004 at the Aurora Medical Center, in Two Rivers, after an extended illness.

    Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 26, 2004 at the Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home in Mishicot, with the Rev. Paul Paider officiating, with burial to follow in the Mishicot Public Cemetery.

    Marie was born in Milwaukee, on May 1, 1914, and has been an area resident since 1942. She attended beauty school. Marie married Ralph "Swede" Gustafson in December 1969, in Tisch Mills, and he preceded her in death June 23, 1984. She was employed as a beautician for many years, and enjoyed gardening. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot.

    Marie is survived by several stepchildren and stepgrandchildren and by a very special friend.

    Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. on Monday at the Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home in Mishicot until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. There will be no Sunday evening visitation.

    A memorial fund has been established in her name.

    A special thank you is extended to the entire staff of the Hamilton Memorial Home of Two Rivers, and to Dr. Julia Hester-Diaz for their special love, care and concern shown to Marie during her illness.

    last week with many guests, among whom were Mr. and Mrs. A. Soenksen
    from Chicago. Mr. Mack is 74 and Mrs. Mack is 72.

    In 1910 there is an Arthur Soenksen living in Chicago with his wife Mar y. Mary is listed as being the mother of no children. The couple has be en married for 17 years.

    In 1920 he is listed as being a shipping clerk at a wholesale grocery in C hicago Ward 26, Cook County, IL.

    In 1930, there is a 16 year old Marie living with them, listed as Arthur 's daughter.

    SOENKSEN
    Mrs. Mary Soenksen, 102, of Rt. 1 Mishicot, residing in the former Stangel's Corners area, one of the oldest residents in Manitowoc County, died Friday morning at the home.

    Funeral services will be at 10 am Monday at Lambert Funeral Home, Mishicot, the Rev. Robert Boettcher officiating. Burial will be in Maack Cemetery near the home.

    A member of one the area's earliest families, Mrs. Soenksen, nee Mary Maack, was born June 18, 1867 in the Town of Mishicot, a daughter of the late Charles and Fredericka Maack. She was married in July of 1891 to Arthur Soenksen. He preceded her in death in 1950.

    Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Marie) Gustafson of Rt. 1 Mishicot.

    Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday.
