107 | ADOLPH HORSTMANN Adolph Horstmann, 54, died late Tuesday afternoon at the farm home on Manitowoc route 2 after having been ill for two weeks. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. from the home and at 2 o'clock at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran church, the Rev. Theo Uetzmann officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body will be removed to the home from the Wattawa, Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home Thursday at 7 p.m. and will lie in state until the hour of the funeral. Mr. Horstmann was born on August 6, 1887, in the town of Two Rivers and lived there all his life. His wife, the former Eleanor Fries, died in June of this year. Survivors are two children, Lorina and Delmar; one brother, Fred; and one sister, Mrs. William Habek. 109 | Alfred Becker, 65, of the Village of Mishicot, died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon. Funeral services will be 2 pm Saturday in St. Peter Lutheran Church Mishicot. The Rev. Herbert Kesting will officiate and burial will be in Pioneer Rest Cemetery, Two Rivers. Mr. Becker was born Oct. 13, 1912 in Two Rivers, son of the late Herman and Marie Wenholz Becker. He had been employed with Mirro Aluminum Co., retiring in 1977. Mr. Becker was a lifetime member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and a member of Mishicot Senior Citizens. Survivors include cousins and friends. A brother, Alvin preceded him in death. Lambert, age 92, of 416 Park Lane Apt. 2, Mishicot, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2001 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot, with the Rev. William O'Brien officiating. Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Parish cemetery in Mishicot. Alice was born Sept. 6, 1908 in Kewaunee County to the late Victor and Gertrude Doleysh Pawlovich and has been a lifelong area resident. She married George Lambert on May 27, 1931 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot. He preceded her in death Jan. 29, 1984. Mrs. Lambert was a Blue Lady for the Red Cross and also sold Avon products for many years. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Dolores and Franklin Benthein of Mishicot, Carol and Paul Menges of Larrabee. One son and daughter-in-law: George and Dorothy Lambert, of Oshkosh. Fourteen grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Alice is further survived by one brother, Elnathan Pawlovich, and one sister, Nina Meek, both of South Dakota, along with many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Todd Menges and by her granddaughter Vicki's husband, Jeffrey Vogt. Five brothers and one sister also preceded her in death. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Lambert Funeral Home in Mishicot. There will be a 7 p.m. parish wake service Friday evening at the funeral home. Visitation will continue after 9 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, until the time of service at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church. 115 | AUG. SPECHT (d. 1908) From Der Nord Westen, 10 Sep. 1908: (From the correspondent in Mishicott, 08 Sep.) Mr. A. Specht, about whose illness we had earlier reported, closed his eyes in the final sleep on Friday afternoon and was buried Monday in a very large funeral with military honors. He is survived by his sorrowing widow, 3 sons and 3 daughters. The sons are - Theodor in Manitowoc, Robert, here, and August in Fond du Lac. The daughters are Mrs. Wm. Mueller, and Mrs. Robert Steltzer here, and Mrs. John P. Schmidt in Milwaukee. He is also survived by several grand and great-grandchildren. Mr. Specht and his family lived here for many years and made a host of friends. He was a good husband and loving father who enjoyed the admiration of everyone. 125 | CIRCUMSTANCES OF LOSS First Lieutenant Leland L. Eckart., was a Marine pilot assigned to VMF-213, a fighter squadron based at Henderson Field, Guadalcanal. On 25 April 1943, VMF-213 launched a strike against Japanese forces at Kolombangara Island. Eckart was part of a four-plane flight that strafed Blackett Strait and then attacked a large force of unsuspecting enemy aircraft over Vangunu. In the course of a few minutes, six Zeros and two Corsairs went down, including Eckart’s F4U-1 02399. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, 2003 at the Melnik Presbyterian Church, Whitelaw, with the Rev. Chris Schwab officiating, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Darlene was born Jan. 13, 1940 in Two Rivers to Lester H. and Anita Boje Tezlaff Sr. and had been a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of Mishicot High School. Darlene married Donald Hagenow on Sept. 26, 1959 at the Melnik Presbyterian Church. She was formerly employed by both the Mirro and Hamilton Manufacturing Companies and later owned and operated with her husband Donald the family farm for over 40 years. She was a member of the Melnik Presbyterian Church, and a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the church. Darlene enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, gardening, the Christmas season and decorating her home for it. She also enjoyed collecting collectibles and milking cows. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and playing with her dogs. Survivors include her husband: Donald; one daughter and son-in-law; Dawn and Robbie Behrmann, Denmark; two sons and daughters-in-law: Dean and Sue Hagenow, Denny and Cheri Hagenow, all of Two Rivers; 10 grandchildren: Jodi (Cory) Hendrickson, Nicole, Lori, Brittany, Mike, Derick, Jim, Justin, Dannon and Jared; two great-grandchildren: Dianna and Andrea. She is further survived by her father: Lester H. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Moonday, January 8, 2001, at the Melnik Persbyterian Church, with the Rev. Karen Doty officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. Edward was born October 10, 1914, in the town of Kossuth, son of the late Henry and Emma Robinson Hagenow. He has been a life long resident. He farmed on the family farm in the town of Kossuth his entire working life. He was a member of the Melnik Presbyterian Church and was an avid hunter. Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Otto and Eleanor Hagenow, town of Kossuth; his nieces and nephews, Marion Kovarik, Paul Hagenow, Donald Hagenow, Donna Musil, Marjorie Sladkey, Arelete Basken, David Hagenow, Ronald Mott and Gerald Mott, grand nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Tom Schiman. He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Ella Doubek, Mayme Kouba, Lillian Wasurick and Ida Mott; two brothers, Charles and Henry Hagenow. As a youth he moved with his family to Two Rivers, attended Two Rivers schools and married Myrtle Ahrens June 2, 1921. He was a member of Two Rivers Elks club, 50 year member and past master of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Kastrosky had been employed with Hamilton Industries for 46 years as an engineer in the drafting department, retiring in 1965. Survivors include his wife, a son and daughter-in-law, E. She was stricken with a sudden heart attack after being in normal health and performing the usual household duties during the day. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., from the home and at two o'clock from the Immanuel Evan. Lutheran church, the Rev. Theo. Uetzmann officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery. Mrs. Horstman, nee Eleanore Freis(sic), was born in Mishicot in 1890 and was graduated from the Teachers Training school. She taught rural schools in the county for 15 years and 18 years ago was married to Mr. Horstman. They located on the homestead farm in the town of Two Rivers. Mrs. Hagenow, nee Emma Robinson, was born Oct. 26, 1877, in the town of Kossuth. On April 6, 1897, she was married to Mr. Hagenow and they settled in Fischerville. The husband and seven children survive, Mrs. John Kouba, Kingsbridge; Mrs. James Wasurick and Mrs. George Mott, both of Fischerville; Charle Hagenow, Manitowoc; Henry Jr., Larrabee; Otto, Francis Creek and Edward, at home; three sisters, Mrs. Louise Richter, Sheboygan; Mrs. James Novak and Mrs. Anna Hronek, both of Fischerville. Death this morning of Mrs. Hatsie Leonhardt nee Wiegarts, at age 25 yrs. 12 days, leaving her husband and 1-1/2 yr.old child. 150 | HENRY HAGENOW (d. 1958) Henry Hagenow Sr., 91, lifelong resident of the Town of Kossuth, Rt. 2, Two Rivers, died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on the farm home operated by a son, Edward. He had been ill two weeks. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Melnik Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Gervase F. Zanotti officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Mr. Hagenow was born in the Town of Kossuth Dec. 4, 1866, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Christian Hagenow. He was engaged in farming on the homestead property his entire life, retiring 20?? years ago when his son, Edward took over the operation. He married the former Emma Robinson in 1898. She preceded him in death 13 years ago. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. John Kouba and Mrs. George Mott of Rt. 2, Two Rivers, and Mrs. James Wasurick of Rt. 1, Mishicot; three other sons, Charles of Manitowoc and Henry Jr., and Otto of Rt. 2, Two Rivers; a brother, Charles of Rt. 2, Two Rivers; 14 grandchildren and 19 great grand-children. A daughter, Ella, preceded him in death 32 years ago. Friends may call at Specht Funeral Home, Mishicot, after 2 p.m. Friday until 11 a.m. Saturday when the casket will be taken to the church where the body will lie in state until the time of service.
