Mrs. Rohr, the former Ceil Szymanski, was born in Milwaukee and married Mr. Rohr 25 years ago. The couple resided in Green Bay since their marriage. Mr. Rohr was born in Kewaunee and was employed by Green Bay and Western Railroad for many years. He and his wife were members of St. Agnes Church. Mr. and Mrs. Rohr are survived by two sons, Louis Jr., at home; Edward, U.S. Army in Germany; one daughter, Mrs. Michael (Mary) McLeod, Green Bay; one grandchild. Mrs. Rohr is also survived by her father, Frank Szymanski, one sister, Mrs. Kenneth Johnson; three brothers, Max, Edward, and Matthew, all of Green Bay. Mr. Rohr is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Mary Rohr, Two Rivers; five brothers, Joseph, Robert and Florian, all of Kewaunee; John, Racine; Stanley, Manitowoc; two sisters, Mrs. Robert Graan, Racine; Mrs. Angeline Wondrash, Two Rivers. Frank Radey, John Wilhelm, Fred Skarvan, Anton Novy and Jos. Froelich. While the Misses Clara Seibel, Anna Radey, Mary Radey, and Alvina and Anna Skarvan acted as bridesmaids. The groom is the proprietor of the Branch house here. Miss Seibel is the daughter of Mr. John Seibel, a prosperous farmer of Kossuth. 1167 | Mrs. Alwina Vogtel Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock Mrs. Herman Vogtel breathed her last at the Loretto Hospital. Altho it was known that she had been ill for several weeks, no one thought that her end was so near, and the news of her demise proved quite a shock to her many friends. Mrs. Vogtel had been seriously ill several years ago with rheumatism, and since then she had been apparently in the best of health until about a year ago when she commenced ailing. Her ailment was diagnosed as gall-stones and gall-bladder trouble and her condition became so alarming the week before her death that it was decided to perform an operation which was done at the Loretto Hospital Monday morning. The surgeons who performed the operation considered her case hopeless from the start but she lingered until Wednesday morning. The deceased was born in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County May 22 1876, as a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Freitag and was consequently only 38 years, 6 months, and 3 days old when she died. From Nicollet County, the family removed to Eden Township in the county where the deceased was married October 23, 1894 to Herman Vogtel, who survives her. Shortly afterwards they moved to New Ulm where they have since resided. At the time of her death Mrs. Vogtel was a member of the Lutheran Ladies' Aid Society who attended the funeral in a body. In this society she was always an earnest and active worker and she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, one daughter and a son just a year old. She is also survived by the following sisters and brothers : Herman Freitag, Milaca, Minn.; Fred Freitag, Max, N.D.; Mrs. Gustav Kremin, Vesta, Minn.; Mrs. Fred Jones, Morgan; Mrs. Otto Hoppe, Nicollet and Mrs. R.H. 1168 | Mrs. Anna Szabados Mrs. Anna Szabados, 86, of Brillion, died Tuesday morning at Heritage Nursing HOme, Manitowoc, following a lingering illness. The former Anna Carstens was born March 20, 1884, at Manitowoc Rapids, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Carstens. She was married to John Schwantz on June 9, 1906. He died in May, 1916. She then was married to Leo Szabados on June 10, 1918. He died Aug. 4, 1956. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Brillion, and its Ladies Aid. Surviros include two daughters, Mrs. Henry, (Frieda) Pleichwehl, Brillion, and Mrs. Erhardt (alma) Haupt, Manitowoc; one son Reuben Schwantz, Manitowoc; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Henry, Brillion, and Louis, Manitowoc. A great-grandchild, sister and two brothers preceded her in death. Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Church, the Rev. Arden Stuebs, pastor, officiating. 1170 | Mrs. Catherine Vieau Passes Away Tuesday Mrs. Catherine Vieau, 86, one of the older residents of the town of Ashwaubenon, died Tuesday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edwin Cavil, town of Hobart. She was born in Bohemia and came to Green Bay in 1869. For some time after that she lived in the home of Dr. Crane, and in 1870 she was married to Andrew J. Vieau, nephew of Solomon Juneau, founder of Milwaukee. Ten children were born to the couple and five daughters survive, as follows: Mrs. Frank Paul and Mrs. Fred Wagner, Green Bay; Mrs. Edwin Calvin, town of Hobart; Mrs. Helen De Noble, Appleton. Thirty-six grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren survive. The body is at Ryan's funeral home on S. Broadway, and funeral services will be in St. Joseph's church, but the time has not been decided. 1171 | Mrs. Emil (Margaret F.) Radey Mrs. Emil (Margaret F.) Radey, 86, of 422 N. Maple, died Friday, Feb. 25, 1994 at a local nursing home. She was born March 18, 1907, in Pensaukee, Wis. Her parents were the late Hubert and Emmaline Francart. She was a member of St. Patrick Parish and the Parish St. Anne's Society. She was also a longtime member of the Secular Franciscans. Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Cornelius A. and Lillian M. Francart of Green Bay; many dear nieces, nehews and cousins, and her godchild, Margie Peters, of Green Bay. She was preceded in death by her husband Emil, in 1961 and 11 brothers and sisters. Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday. She was born in Sheboygan Feb. 23, 1897 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jindra. She was married to George Feller at Maplewood and the couple owned and operated a tavern at Maplewood, also operating the post office there for a number of years. She was a member of the Altar Society and the Legion auxiliary. Surviing are her husband, one son, the Rev. Donald Feller, Tisch Mills; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (marian) Paul, Green Bay; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Mary Jindra, Sturgeon Bay, and Vincent Jindra, Lima, Ohio. 1173 | Mrs. Frank Wanish, Sr., 82, the former Pauline Kunz, died early Monday morning at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Quirin Weber of Maribel. Funeral services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Saur Funeral home, Kellnersville and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville. The Rev. Frank Svatek will officiate and burial will be in Greenstreet Cemetery. Mrs. Wanish, nee Pauline Kunz, was born in the Town of Cooperstown March 19, 1871 and was married 65 years to Frank Wanish. They operated a farm in Cooperstown until Mr. Wanish retired 31 years ago. The couple then moved to Maribel. He died Feb. 4, 1950. Mrs. Wanish was a member of the Rosecrans ZCBJ lodge. She is survived by two sons, Frank of Maribel and John of Milwaukee; five daughters, Mrs. John Petske of Manitowoc, Mrs. Ann Bartelme and Mrs. Joseph Petske of Milwaukee, Mrs. Joseph Weber of Kellnersville and Mrs. Quirin Webel of Maribel; a brother, John Kunz of Los Angeles, Calif.; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. 1174 | Mrs. Fred Jones Killed By Horse Two Ribs Broken over the Heart Cause Death a few Hours After Injury Mrs. Fred Jones,, formerly of Franklin, residing norteast(sic) of Morton was kicked by a horse while hitching up her team after a visit at Chas. Stall home on Wednesday of last week, which resulted in her death the following morning. The tragedy is a severe shock to the bereaved family and their friends. Mrs. Jones had called at the Chas. Stall home and had stayed for dinner. After dinner she went out to hitch up the team she was driving as she attempted to rearrange some part of the harness the horse kicked striking her over the heart, and breaking two ribs. She was taken to her home where she was given medical care, but the injury was too severe for her to withstand, and she passed away Thursday morning. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Rev. Saur of Morton officiating, and interment made in the Morton ecmetery(sic). The pallbearers were John Blank, Ed. Factor, Herman Vogtel of New Ulm, Otto Hopp, August Freitag and Gust Kremin of Vesta, Minn. Mrs. Fred Jones, nee Freitag, was born in Nicollet county in 1878, and moved to Brown county with her parents while yet a small girl. At the age of nineteen she was united in marriage to Ray White, who three years later lost his life in a railroad accident. To this union a son and daughter was born, namely Howard and Adeline White. Seven years later she was united in marriage to Fred Jones. To this union six children were born, namely, Emmet, Harvey, Harry, Fred, Lydia, and Irene, all of whom, together with her husband, mourn her untimely death. The daughter of Gustave and Maximilia Thirion, was born March 12 ,1891 in De Pere and has been a lifelong resident of the area. She was a member and past president of the Green Bay Golden Age Club. Survivors are one daugher (Mrs. Michael (Lucille Vincent) Feher, De Pere; four grandchildren, John and Kenneth Vincent, Kay Van Dreel and Jean Minten, De Pere; 11 great-grandchildren and a brother, George Thirion, DePere. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, Feb. 26, 1921, two brothers and four sisters. At Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, after 2 p.m. Monday. Mrs. Stanley Vincent, De Pere, attended her mother as matron of honor and John Ferron was best man. For the ceremony the bride wore a lilac-colored street dress and a corsage of gardenias. After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Radey left for the Pacific cost with stops en route to tour Yellowstone National park, Montana, and the strate of Oregon and Washington. THey plan ot return the first part of August to sped the balance of the summer at their Edgewater Beach cottage. JOHN FRONEK DIED LAST NIGHT Wife of Langlade County Assemblyman Succumbs to Long Illness Mrs. John Fronek, 47, passed away at her home in the town of Ackley Monday evening at 11 o'clock after an illness of about a year or more. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at St. Mary's Catholic church. The Rev. Emil Shimek will conduct the services, and on Saturday morning at 9 o'clock he will celebrate a solemn requiem high mass. Burial will take place at the Stengl cemetery. Emma Honzik was born October 27, 1883, in the town of Gibson, Manitowoc county. She lived there until she was sixteen years of age, when the family moved to Antigo to make their home. She has lived in this vicinity ever since. On October 10, 1904, she was united to John Fronek at Antigo. To this union seven children were born. They are: Harry, Mrs. George Steber (Clara), John, Edward, Norman, Erwin and Raymond, all of the town of Ackley. She is also survived by her father, Wenzel Honzik, Manitowoc; four sisters: Mrs. Emil Kloida, Mrs. Frank Kuntiz, and Mrs. Mary Cholupka, Manitowoc, and Mrs. John Blaha, Antigo; and four brothers: Anton Honzik and Wenzel Honzik, town fo Gibson; and George Honzik of Manitowoc. Her mother preceded her in death by about eight years. 1179 | Mrs. John Younk Passes Suddenly Mrs. John Younk, 64, died suddenly early Wednesday. She became ill Tuesday but her condition was not regarded as critical. Death was attributed to pnuemonia. The body is at the Haucke Funeral home where it will remain until 8:30 Saturday morning when it will be taken to St. Mary's Catholic church for funeral services. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The former Josephine LeBotte, Mrs. Younk was born at Rosiere Dec. 6, 1885. She married Florian Rohr at Rosiere and for serveral years after their marriage they lived in Ironwood, Mich. Following Mr. Rohr's death the deceased came to Algoma and in 1914 married John Younk. Mr. Younk died in March, 1944. Surivvors include two children from her first marriage, Mrs. Hilton (Margaret) Heinkel; Saginaw, Mich., and Lewellyn Rohr, Two Rivers, and three children from her second marriage, Eugene Younk, Algoma; Mrs. James (Florence) Muckian, Algoma, and Mrs. Frank (Marion) Fonda, Syracuse, N.Y. Also remaining are two brothers, Eugene and Elmer LeBotte, and three sisters, Mrs. Jule Hearley, Mrs. Joseph Ledocq and Miss Irene LeBotte, all of Algoma and 11 grandchildren. 1180 | Mrs. Joseph Chaloupka, who was taken ill scarcely two weeks ago having been confined to her bed due to her critical condition with no signs of improvement was removed to the Holy Family hospital on Tuesday, remaining there but a few days as it was believed that she had apparently overcome the attack. But she suddently took a turn for the worse and on Thursday evening at 6 o'clock passed away a victim of Bright's diseaase. The decedent was a native of Bohemia, having been born there fifty-one years ago, and came to this country when a girl with her parents who made their home in the town of Gibson. She was married to Mr. Chaloupka, thirty-three years ago, the couple making their home in the town of Mishicot, where they resided until some years past when their son William took possession of the farm and they have made their home there since. Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her untimely death two sons, Edward of Kossuth and William of Mishicot. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Supita. Three brothers and one sister also survive. The brothers are, Joe of Francis Creek, Jacob of Waukesha, Frank of Manitowoc, and Mrs. Chas. Hagenow of this place. 1181 | Mrs. Joseph Pfeifer Mrs. Joseph Pfeifer, 72, 456 Michigan st., died Tuesday at 11 p.m. at the Memorial hospital following complications of a week's illness. The former Emma Ecdkart daughter of Mr. and mrs. Matthew Eckart, was born here June 2, 1878. She was married to Joseph Pfeifer her June 18, 1908. Mrs. Pfeifer worked at Goettleman's for 22 years and she was a member of the Christian Mothers society and the Catholic Daughter of St. Joseph's church. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ottmar (Marie) Schmidt, Mrs. Joseph (Mildred) Talbot and Mrs. Lawrence (Genevieve) Virlee, Sturgeon Bay; one sister, Mrs. Joseph (Helen) Amenson, Green Bay, and 14 grandchildren. Her husband and a daughter Elanore preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held Friday, 8:30 o'clock from the Stoneman Funeral home and at 9 a.m. from the St. Joseph Catholic church. The REv. 1182 | Mrs. Katherine Kelleher [sic] passed away Friday last, a victim of heart failure. She became suddenly ill and died before a physician arrived. Mrs. Kelleher resided with her son, Edward, and daughter, Miss Lottie, 1807 Lincoln Street, and the funeral was held from there Monday afternoon, Rev. Philip Mercer officiating. Deceased was born in Kewaunee in 1859. She came to this city with her family thirteen years ago. Her husband has been dead six years. KUNZ SUMMONED BY DEATH TODAY Funeral Services Will Be Held from Home Thursday Mrs. Mary Kunz, wife of Louis Kunz, 815 Marshall street, died at the Holy Family hospital at 1:4? this morning following an illness of several months. She was removed to the hospital about a month ago and underwent an operation for eye trouble. Death was due to a complication of diseases incident to old age. The funeral will be held from the family home at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon and burial will be at Evergreen cemetery. Mrs. Kunz was born at Cleveland, Ohio, March 26, 1856 and would have been sixty-nine at her next birthday. Strangely enough her family name before marriage was also Kunz and with her parents she came to Manitowoc as a child, receiving her education in the public schools here. She was married to Louis Kunz in this city November 28, 1876 and the family has since made its home here. Besides the husband she is survived by three children, George and Erwin Kunz of this city and Mrs. J.V. Aldrer of Wilmette, Ill. One sister, Mrs. O.B. Sonsthagen and five grandchildren also survive her. Mrs. Kunz was essentially a home body, devoting her time to her home and her family but her pleasant manner and kindly disposition won for her a wide circle of friends to whom news of the death will come as a shock and with a distinct sense of a personal loss. 1187 | Mrs. Mary Wanish, Kin of Winonan, Succumbs at 102 Mrs. Mary Wanish, 102 years and six months, grandmother of Carl H. Donart, 1286 West Broadway, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Mathias, Sauk Centre, Minn., Saturday. Funeral arrangements are awaiting the arrival of a son and daughters from the west. Services will be Wednesday at the Sauk Centre Congregational church. Mr. and Mrs. Donart left today for Sauk Centre to attend the funeral. Mrs. Wanish, the oldest resident of Sauk Centre, homesteaded with her husband, Matthew Wanish 12 miles south of Sauk Centre 87 years ago. Her hobby was flowers and she continued working in her flower garden until 99 years old. Letters of congratulations from Governor Luther Youngdahl and J.M. Nolte, director of the Minnesota Territorial Centennial, an orchid from the Breakfast in Hollywood program, a letter from senator Hubert H. Humphrey and congratulations from all over the country were sent to Mrs. Wanish on her 100th birthday in February, 1949. She was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, and lived on a farm i the Sauk Centre area before there was a Sauk Centre. She often recalled that when they broke the ground for their farm n Raymond township, they had to go to St. Cloud for a sack of flour. She was three years old when her parents came from Europe to Wisconsin, and was 17 when she came as a bride to Minnesota territory, going by train to St. Paul. She was still active about the house when she celebrated her 100th birthday although she had given up reading, sewing and baking the year before. She had but few gray hairs. Mrs. Wanish often related that her grandmother lived to be 112, and had coal black hair, and "would have lived even longer but a storm had wrecked the apple tree on the farm and when she went to see the damage she slipped an broke her leg, and died a few weeks later. There were six children in the Wanish family. Surviving are five, Mrs. Rose Braatz, mother of MR. 1189 | Mrs. Meineke Succumbs to Heart Attack Two Rivers, Jan. 4-Heart trouble, from which she had been a sufferer for some time, caused the demise of Mrs. Henry Meineke at the family home, 2300 Adams street, Saturday. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon from the home with services at 2 o'clock at St. John's Lutheran chuch the Rev. Hanse officiating. Burial will be in Pioneers' Rest cemetery. Mrs. Meineke, who was Emily Schmidt before her marriage, December 1, 1885, was born at Shoto November 15, 1864 and was sixty-one years of age. 1190 | Mrs. Nettie Radey A requiem mass for Mrs. Nettie Radey was celebrated this morning in St. Leo's Catholic Church. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery. Money evening rosary was recited in the Creel Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Paul Hanley, Wallace Harper, Dan DeMers, Early Shelton, Louis DeMers and Aaron Shull. Mrs. Radey, 77, longtime Lewistown resident, died Saturday in St. Joseph Hospital. She was born, September 19, 1880, in Kellnersville, Wis., the daughter of Joseph and Barbara Novak and received her education in Wisconsin. On June 17, 1901, she married John Radey in Kellnersville. In 1914 the couple came to Central Montana where they homesteaded in the Winnett area unitl 1918. In that year they moved to Denton where they lived for two years before coming to Lewistown. Mrs. Radey is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Barbara Potuchek, Cato, Wis. and Mrs. Emma Wilhelm, Aniwa, Wis.; a niece Mrs. Clarence Fulbright, Hobson and several nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband who died in 1950. Deceased was born at Green /Bay while the English flag floated over Fort Howard, being therefor, about 81 years old. She was married early in life to Andrew J. Vieaux(sic), whom she survived by a few years. In her relations as wife, mother and friend she was most devoted and self-sacrificing; always considering others first and bearing the many reverses of a long life with a cheerfulness and courage which ever bespeak the sincere Christian. Bruesehoff, directory of Christian Education at St. Mark Lutheran Church. The former Blondina Freitag was born in Minnesota, July 27, 1890. Her marriage to Rev. Mr. Bruesehoff took place in 1911. Pastor Bruesehoff's first parish was in the Town of Forest, Fond du Lac County. Mrs. Brueshoff was an attendant at the Bethesda Lutheran Home in Watertwon for 24 years. Surviving besides her husband and son are a daughter, Mrs. Gilbert (Ruth) Schaller of Lemont, Ill.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown. She is survived by her husband, Vernon, of 31 years; a son, Leon Kind, Kaukauna; a nephew's wife, Deloris Zastrow; a grand-nephew, Neal Zastrow; a grandniece, Vicki Pantzlaff; three great-grand-nephews and three great-grand-nieces, all of Greenleaf. Mrs. Mueller was born on May 17, 1902, in the Town of Two Rivers, the daughter of the late John and Augusta Runge Ahrens. She was a graduate of Washington High School, Two Rivers, with the class of 1920, and of Manitowoc Teachers College, 1921. She taughter in the towns of Kossuth and Mishicot, and the State Graded School of Mishicot. She married Milton L. Mueller on June 2, 1925. in Two Rivers. She was a resident of Manitowoc for 55 years, and moved to Sun Prairie in 1985. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, and past president of St. John's Women's Guild, Sheboygan Regional Women's Guild, Synodical Women's Guild, United Council of Church Women, U.C.T. and the Eastern Star and Auxiliary. Survivors include two sons, Charles (Sandra) of Sun Prairie, and Edward (Marion) of Neenah; a daughter, Carol (William) Hayes of Winnetka, Illinois; six grandchildren, Kristen (Brook) Redd, Susan (Raimund) Dettmer, Steven Mueller, John Mueller, Paul Mueller, and Patrick Hayes; a great-grandson, Ethan Redd; and two sisters, Myrtle Kastrosky of Watertown, and Mildred Walters of Spokane, Washington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton; three brothers, Jerry, Harvey and Elmer; and a sister, Elvira. Friends may call at ST. 1197 | Multiple obituaries were published for Johann. JOHANN J. SCHMIDT (From the correspondent in Two Rivers, 21 Mar.) John Schmidt, a local farmer, died yesterday at age 69. He leaves a widow and 10 children, two other children having predeceased him. Naturally all the surviving children are grown. The eldest daughter is Mrs. H. Luebke here; 5 of the sons are in the construction business in Chicago, one of whom is now working on a contract in Baltimore. The deceased was proprietor of a fine farm, had worked hard, and will have left a worthwhile estate. The funeral will be held Wed. from the Lutheran Church. Deceased was born Feb. 5, 1839, in Kries Saltzradel Koenigreich, Preisen. He came to Two Rivers in 1858 and soon after was married to Miss Dorthy Gartz and located on a farm near here, where he continued to reside until his death. His death was due to an operation performed for the removal of an abscess in his chest. After the operation he was taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Herman Luebke, where he passed away March 20th at 1 o'clock P.M. He was well known and highly esteemed, and his funeral, which took place from St. John's Lutheran Church at Two Rivers, was well attended by a large circle of relatives and friends. His wife, six sons and four daughters survive. The children are Louis and Mrs. Herman Luebke of Two Rivers John, Henry, Ernest, August, and Mrs. Henry Bach, of Chicago Mrs. H. Wreinecke, of Rangeline Otto and Helena at home They were all present at the funeral, the six sons paying the last tribute to their father by acting as pall bearers from the church to the hearse.
