Schmidt
Otto Schmidt, 73, retired farmer and town of Mishicot official was stricken with a heart attack and died, immediately after returning to his farm home from Manitowoc county fair at 6:30 p.m. yesterday.
Funeral services will be at the St. Peter Lutheran church in Mishicot at 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Edward Zell officiating. Burial will be in the Pioneers' Rest cemetery, Two Rivers.
Mr. Schmidt was born in the school section of town of Mishicot in 1873. In 1896 he married Caroline Blum in Mishicot and settled down to a lifetime of farming, which was interrupted for only a few years by work as a drayman. He bought the farm now operated by his son Ralph 25 years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt were making plans to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary in November.
Mr. Schmidt was town treasurer for 12 years followed by nine years on the board of supervisors. For 21 years up to the time of his death he was an agent for the Mishicot Mutual Insurance company.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters. Mrs. Roland Beeck of St. Ignace, Mich., and Mrs. Arthur Blank of Mishicot, two sons, Roy of Manitowoc, and Ralph home on the farm, three sisters, Mrs. Holda Kurtz of Two Rivers, Mrs. Emma Schroeder of Manitowoc an Mrs. Alvina Frank of Milwaukee, one brother, Paul of Milwaukee, 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the Specht funeral home, Mishicot from Sunday forenoon until 10 am Tuesday when it will be moved to St. Peter's where it will lie in state until the time of the services.
