ARNOLD B. CHALOUPKA
Arnold (Arnie) B. Chaloupka, age 67, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday, January 30, 1996, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 5, 1996, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Lane, Green Bay. Officiating will be Father Mike Seiss and Father Al Lis with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mishicot.
Arnie was born November 2, 1928, in Mishicot, son of the late Edward and Emma (Shedivy) Chaloupka. Arnie married the former Sarah "Sally" Halloran June 20, 1951, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Maple Grove. He worked at Manitowoc Engineering and other places of employment at Manitowoc. He moved to Sacramento, Calif. in 1967 and worked at Building Supply and Lumber Company until his retirement in 1984, due to ill health. In Sacramento, Arnie was known for his clam chowder at the crab feeds of various churches that he and his friends cooked at.
Arnie moved to Green Bay in 1985. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was very kind and was happiest when he cared for children and they all loved him. He always made sure they ate good, especially his potato dumplings. He also took great pride in his garden. He was a member of VFW Post 211 of DePere, Moose Lodge 801, St. Bernard's Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus Council 10243, and belonged to the National Association of Atomic Veterans. Arnie served in the Navy from 1945 to 1947. He was on the sea going tug U.S.S. Chowanoe A.T.F. 100 in the Marshall Islands for the big nuclear bomb tests at Bikini Atoll. Due to exposure of radiation from the atomic bomb, he developed cancer in later years. Survivors include his wife, Sally; one son and daughter-in-law, Tom (Sue) Chaloupka, Sacramento; two daughters, Cindy Gott and Sande Terrell, both of Green Bay; six grandchildren, Wanda Drewieske, Jason Gott, Ashley Chaloupka, Michael Chaloupka, Brandt Jr. and Bridgett Terrell; two great-grandchildren, Cody and Kiley Drewieske, and one expected in April; one brother and sister-in-law, Norbert and Evelyn Chaloupka, Manitowoc; one sister-in-law, Wilma Chaloupka, Aberdeen, N.C. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roland Chaloupka, and Chester Chaloupka; two sisters, Grace Junk and Alice Kouba.
Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., Green Bay, from 3-9 p.m. Sunday, Knights of Columbus 6 p.m. Sunday, VFW service 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Parish wake service, 7 p.m. Sunday. Visitation will continue at St. Bernard's from 10 a.m. Monday until the time of service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Unity Hospice and all our dear friends. You had many battles in your life. Your strength and faith in God always got you through them. This one was too much. Even though you fought hard, your energy, strength and perseverance was unending, now you can rest, my love, and let God taken (sic) care of you. Your spirit will be with us and you'll be looking over us all, especially little Michael, until we meet again in Heaven. All my love, Sally
