Elaine E. Menges, age 78, of 14124 Hwy. Q, Larrabee, entered into eternal rest on Monday, Oct. 11, 2004 at her residence.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 15, 2004 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot, with the Rev. Paul Paider officiating, with burial to follow in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, town of Gibson.
Elaine was born Dec. 17, 1925 in the town of Gibson, to the late Pascal and Libbie Kronforst Brouchoud, and has been a lifetime area resident. She was a graduate of the Mishicot High School. Elaine married William R. Menges on June 21, 1947 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot. He preceded her in death March 8, 1991. She worked for the housekeeping department at Fox Hills for many years. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and the Altar Society of the church. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary of the Kempen-Staudinger-Terens Post #7753 and served as a volunteer at the Senior Citizens Center in Mishicot for many years.
Elaine loved her family and enjoyed watching her children, and grandchildren participating in sports. She enjoyed playing sheepshead with her family and friends and for the last few years playing cards with her friends at the Mishicot Senior Center.
Survivors include her children: Jim and Bonnie Menges of Savage, Minn., and their children: Drew, Katie and Lauren; Jerry and Sue Menges of Manitowoc, and their children: Matthew, Michelle and John; Dave and Naomi Menges, of Lewiston, Minn., and their children: Becky (Bob) Backus, Ben, Nathan (Edie), Tim, Bethany (Josh) Meltz, Micah, Rachel, Emily and Callie; Don and Beth Menges of Manitowoc, and their daughter: Alicia; Nancy and Scott Behnke of Egan, Minn., and their children: Scott, Chad, Brook, Amanda and Stephani: Bill and Debbie Menges of Shoto, and their children: Ryan, Kelly and Casey; Bonnie Wotachek of Mishicot, and her children: Abby, Bailey and Carley; Marsha and Jim LeClair of Francis Creek, and their daughter: Alexia; Steve and Sandy Menges of Francis Creek, and their children: Luke, Peter and Anna; and six great-grandchildren: Margaret, Sammy, Caleb, Faith, Abigail and Leah. She is also survived by one brother: Lloyd (Joan) Brouchoud of Mishicot; one sister: Carol (Bernard) Cisler of Larrabee: four brothers-in-law: Leonard Bodwin of Manitowoc; Paul (Carol) Menges of Larrahee; Robert Wentker of Larrabee, Jim (Joan) Kocian of Two Rivers; nieces, nephews and many special friends.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter: Jane; three sisters: Marie Kocian, Ethel Freimuth and Bernice Bodwin; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday (TONIGHT) at the Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home in Mishicot. Visitation will continue after 9:30 a.m. Friday morning at the funeral home, until the time of service at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
Elaine's family wishes to extend a very special thank you to the nurses and entire staff of the Cancer Center of Holy Family Memorial
Medical Center in Manitowoc, for their special care shown to Elaine and our family during Elaine's illness.
