G.W. D'Armour Dies in Milwaukee
George W. D'Amour, 77, of Milwaukee, former resident of Goodman, Wis., and father of Dr. William D'Armour of Kingsford died at 2:45 yesterday afternoon in St. Francis Hospital in Milwaukee following a lingering illness.
Mr. D'Amour had resided in Milwaukee for the past six years.
He was born July 12, 1883, at Marinette, Wis., and graduated from Marinette, Wis., and Our Lady of Lourdes high school. He became associated with Goodman Lumber Co. interest in 1906, and moved to Goodman in 1909, where he was head accountant for the Goodman Lumber Co.
Mr. D'Amour was one of the original engineers of the Goodman Citizens Bank in 1921, and served as its president until he retired on December 31, 1955.
In addition, Mr. D'Amour also served on the Goodman school board for 20 years.
He was a member of Baraga Council 1585, fourth degree Knights of Columbus, of Iron Mountain.
He leaves his wife, Albina, two sons, Dr. D'Amour, of Kingsford and John D'Amour of Milwaukee; a sister, Mrs. William Klass, of Green Bay; two brothers, Archie of Escanaba, and Cyril D'Amour, of Marinette, and 10 grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Rochon Funeral Home in Iron Mountain beginning at 2 tomorrow afternoon.
Services will be held at 9 Wednesday morning at the funeral home and at 9:30 at SS Mary and Joseph's church. Monsignor A.C. Pelissier will intone the solemn requiem mass. Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will participate.
Monsignor Pelissier and the Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at 8 tomorrow night at the funeral home.
Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will form an honor guard at the funeral home tomorrow.
