Four Killed In Two-Car Crash
Accident Occurs Near Two Rivers
Autos Collide at Unprotected Town Road Intersection in Early Evening.
TWO RIVERS—A two-car crash at an unprotected town road intersection three miles north of this city in the early evening darkness Friday killed four persons and injured two others.
Victims of the tragic accident were Herman W. Jaeckel, 69, and his wife, Nellie, both of 1618-19th St., Two Rivers, and Jo Ann M. Reis, 15, of Rt. 1, Mishicot.

Friday’s crash occurred at about 7:40 p.m. county police said, as the Jaeckel car was traveling north and the Reis vehicle was proceeding east. Both roads leading to the intersection, located west of Shambeau Sales and Service garage, were blacktopped. Police said there were no arterial signs at the intersection but that visibility in the area was good.
Vehicle Cartwheeled
According to the police investigation, the Reis car was struck in the right side by the Jaeckel vehicle in the eastbound lane near the center of the intersection. The vehicles then slapped together with the Jaeckel car coming to rest in the northeast ditch. The Reis vehicle cartwheeled and came to rest on its top in a field. Mr. and Mrs. Jaeckel were both thrown from their car and died almost instantly
of multiple injuries. Jane Menges and Jo Ann Reis were pinned in the back seat area of the Reis Auto.
The Menges girl died of multiple injuries enroute to the hospital and Miss Reis was pronounced dead at the scene of head injuries…

Miss Menges was born Dec. 27, 1952, a daughter of William and Elaine Brouchoud Menges. She attended St. John Lutheran Graded School, Gibson, and was a sophomore at Manitowoc Lutheran High School, where she was a member of the Pep Club and Ushers Club. She was a member of St. John Church.
Survivors include her parents, six brothers, three sisters, maternal grandparents, and paternal grandparents (names omitted for privacy).
Funeral services for Jane Louise Menges, 15, of Larrabee will be at 3 p.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, Town of Gibson. The Rev. Roger Fleming will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at Lambert Funeral home, Mishicot, after 3 p.m. Sunday until 11 a.m.
Monday when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services.
Memorials may be made to Manitowoc Lutheran High School.
