  	Arnold was the son of Frederick Sporleder and Francis Werner. He married Gretchen Faber on Oct 28, 1919 at Carroll, IA. They were the parents of Frederick, Martha, Catherine, and Robert. April 26, 1971 - Carroll Daily Times - Lidderdale - Arnold August Sporledcr, 81, of Lidderdale died at 5:15 a.m. Sunday, April 25, at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, where he had been a patient for three weeks. He was a lifelong resident of this area and a retired farmer. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lidderdale, with the Rev. Albert T. Bostelmann officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, under direction of the Dabn-Woodhouse Funeral Home of Carroll, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Monday. Mr. Sporleder, son of Frederick and Francis Werner Sporleder, was born March 15, 1890, in Grant Township, Carroll County. He served in World War I, and farmed on the same farm on which he was born. On Oct. 28, 1919, he was married at Carroll to Gretchen Faber, who survives. He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lidderdale, and a charter and 50-year member of Maurice Dunn Post No. 7, American Legion at Carroll. Surviving with his wife are four children, Frederick A. Sporleder of Carroll, Mrs. Theodore (Martha) Hoemann of Indianapolis, Ind., Mrs. Harold (Catherine) Rudi of Tucson, Ariz., and Robert C. Sporleder of Charter Oak; also 12 grandchildren. One grandchild, one brother, and one sister preceded him in death.
