Jindra, Jon F.
Jon F. Jindra, age 68, of 1214 School St., Two Rivers, died Sunday morning, August 14, 2011, at his residence.
Jon was born December 14, 1942, in Two Rivers, a son of the late John and Bernice (Malkowski) Jindra. He graduated from Two Rivers Washington High School with the class of 1960. Following high school, Jon served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He graduated cum laude from Northern Michigan University in 1975. He was a substitute teacher at Crystal Falls, Mich. and also taught biology at Gogbebic Community College. Jon was a foreman for Iron County Community Action before returning to Two Rivers in 1978. He was employed with Manitowoc Homes, was a self-employed contractor for over twenty years and was most recently employed at Burger Boat Co. Jon was an avid Green Bay Packers and Chicago Blackhawk fan, enjoyed listening to country music, hunting, fishing, drawing pictures and watching cartoons with his grandson, T.J. He was a member of the Masonic Temple and American Legion Post # 165 of Two Rivers.
Survivors include his daughter: Molly Jindra, Two Rivers; three grandchildren: Erikka Rose, Brogan Elena and Thane Joseph; one brother: David Jindra Sr., Sheboygan; two sisters: Julie Denfeld, Two Rivers and Kris Coons, Manitowoc. He is further survived by a sister-in-law: Mary Jindra, Manitowoc; along with nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother: James Jindra; a sister-in-law: Helen Jindra and a brother-in-law: Dale Denfeld.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2011, at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th St., Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Joan Frost. Military honors will be accorded immediately following the services by members of American Legion Post # 165 and V.F.W. Post # 1248 of Two Rivers. The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
