- Henry Carstens Sr. of Brillion Dies Early Today
Brillion - (Special) Henry Carstens, Sr., 82, for 42 years a Manitowoc county farmer, died at the home of his son, Henry, Jr. in Brillion at 7:30 a.m. today.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Carstens home and at 1:30 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran church. The Rev. Martin Sauer will officiate and burial will be made in Evergreen Cemetery, at Manitowoc.
Mr. Carstens was born April 16, 1854, in Newton. ON March 27, 1879, he was married to Miss Anna Meyer. AFter farming for 42 years in Manitowoc county he moved to Brillion 16 yea ago.
His wife preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 1929. A brother, E.M. Carstens of Manitowoc died Dec. 17, 1936.
Survivors include one brother John, and six children, Christian and Louis of Manitowoc Rapids, Henry, of Brillion, Harvey of Branch, Mrs. Minnie Waack of Newton, and Mrs. Anna Szabados. Ther are 22 children and 10 great grandchldren

Accident Victim Dies of Injuries
Henry Carstens, Sr., Brillion, Was Hurt Week Ago
Brillion- Henry Carstens, Sr. 83, retired farmer, died at 7:30 this morning at the home of his son, Henry Carstens, Jr., Brillion, as a result of injuries suffered in a traffic accident Wednesday, Feb. 17.
Carstens was injured as he was walking at Main and E. Water streets, on his way to church, when the accident, in which an automobile driven by Rudolph Seljan, Brillion, was involved, occurred. Carstens suffered contusions and lacertions of the head, concussion, a fracture of the pelvis and lacerations and contusions of the hands and knees.
Born April 16, 1854 in the town of Newton, Manitowoc county, Carstens operated a farm for 42 years. He retired 16 years ago and moved to Brillion.
Survivors are four sons, Christian and Louis, Manitowoc rapids; Henry, Brillion; Harvey, Branch; two daughters, Mrs. Leo Szabados, Brillion; Mrs. Minnie Waack, town of Newton; one brother, John, town of Newton; twenty-two grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock Monday aftrnoon at the residence and 1:30 at the Trinity Lutheran church. The Rev. Martin Sauer will be in charge and burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, Manitowoc.
