  	Ruth Owens (Barnes) Supita, 89, of New Holstein, died at the Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center in New Holstein on Feb. 26, 1999. She was born on Jan. 14, 1910 in Wauwatosa, the daughter of William S. and Clara E. Barnekow Cox. At the age of 5, she was adopted by Mrs. Sara M. Barnes and moved to Elkhorn. She was married on Sept. 22, 1943 to Dr. Cecil C. Supita. Ruth attended school in Elkhorn and at Carroll College in Waukesha. After her marriage to Dr. Supita, the couple lived in Town Rivers where he practiced dentistry until moving to Manitowoc in 1937. Dr. Supita was commissioned into the U.S. Navy in 1943 and the family moved to Idaho and then California. Ruth and her husband came to live in New Holstein in 1946. Dr. Supita died in August of 1982. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in New Holstein, served on the church council, member of the Women’s Fellowship and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Ruth was active in community affairs. She was a 50-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a charter member of the Calumet Medical Center, served as president of the New Holstein Civic Society, president of the New Holstein Civic Society, president of the New Holstein Garden Club, member of the Homestead and Willowdale auxiliaries, member of the New Holstein Historical Society. Ruth held various offices in the New Hope organization in Chilton. When she was president of the organization, she requested and was given grants for the present building of the New Hope Center in Chilton. The name of the center was chosen by Ruth. She is survived by one daughter, Marsha (Richard) Maas of Delano, Minn.; four grandchildren, Robert (Lisa) Maas, Gary (Kathleen) Maas, Laura (Dan) Forster and Karen Maas; six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Sally, three brothers and two sisters. Services were held at the Sippel Funeral Home in New Holstein and also held at St. John United Church of Christ. The Rev. James E. Werner officiated. Burial was in New Holstein City Cemetery.
