- Mrs. Fred Jones Killed By Horse
Two Ribs Broken over the Heart Cause Death a few Hours After Injury
Mrs. Fred Jones,, formerly of Franklin, residing norteast(sic) of Morton was kicked by a horse while hitching up her team after a visit at Chas. Stall home on Wednesday of last week, which resulted in her death the following morning. The tragedy is a severe shock to the bereaved family and their friends.
Mrs. Jones had called at the Chas. Stall home and had stayed for dinner. After dinner she went out to hitch up the team she was driving as she attempted to rearrange some part of the harness the horse kicked striking her over the heart, and breaking two ribs. She was taken to her home where she was given medical care, but the injury was too severe for her to withstand, and she passed away Thursday morning.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Rev. Saur of Morton officiating, and interment made in the Morton ecmetery(sic).
The pallbearers were John Blank, Ed. Factor, Herman Vogtel of New Ulm, Otto Hopp, August Freitag and Gust Kremin of Vesta, Minn.
Mrs. Fred Jones, nee Freitag, was born in Nicollet county in 1878, and moved to Brown county with her parents while yet a small girl. At the age of nineteen she was united in marriage to Ray White, who three years later lost his life in a railroad accident. To this union a son and daughter was born, namely Howard and Adeline White. Seven years later she was united in marriage to Fred Jones. To this union six children were born, namely, Emmet, Harvey, Harry, Fred, Lydia, and Irene, all of whom, together with her husband, mourn her untimely death. She also leaves three brothers, Robert, August and Fred Freitag.
The tribune extends deepest sympathy to the bereaved family in their sorrow.
