Anton Honsick 58 Male, Workman Anna Honsick 46 female Anton Honsick 18 male Anton Honsick and his wife Anna and son Anton were found on the ship manifest for the ship S.S. Rhein which entered the port of NY in Sept. 1873. The passenger list states they were from Germany. All other records indicate the family was from Bohemia. Although the spelling of the name is different, the ages of the passengers match the family. We believe this to be the arrival of Wenzel and his parents. NOTE: Naturalization Record states Sept 1873; 1900 Census indicates he immigrated in 1873. Obituary states he was 8 years old which would be 1865-this is incorrect. Former Gibson Farmer Dies at Manitowoc Today MANITOWOC (Special)- A stroke of apoplexy caused the death early this morning of Wenzel Honzik, Sr. 79, at the home of his son, George, North 15th street, where he had been living since he retired from farming ten years ago. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the homestead farm in the town of Gibson. The Rev. Frank Junek will officiate. Interment will be in the Mishicot cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Specht funeral home until Thursday evening, when it will be taken to the Gibson homestead. Honzik was born in Bohemia on October 10, 1857, and he came to America with his parents when he was eight years old. The family settled on a farm at Centerville and later moved to Kossuth. With his wife, the former Madeline Eckart who died 17 years ago, he established the homestead farm in the town of Gibson. Ten years ago he came to Manitowoc. Survivors are four daughters and three sons: Mrs. John Blaha of Antigo, Mrs. Emil Kloida of Manitowoc, Mrs. William Chaloupka of Mishicot, Mrs. Frank Kunz of Gibson, Anton and Wenzel on the home farm and George of this city. Edited for living Wenzel was 18 when he immigrated not eight. (His wife Madeline is buried in Tisch Mills Cemetery #66)
