    DEATH TAKES MRS. SCHMIDT AT AGE OF 81

    Well Known Resident of City and Town Many Years Taken Thursday


    Mrs. Lena Schmidt, 81, widow of Louis J. Schmidt, early brick manufactur er and a town of Two Rivers farmer for many years, died at the Municipal h ospital Thursday night, where she had been a patient for the past seven we eks. She had made her home for the past six months with her son-in-law a nd daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Greenwood, 27th street.

    Funeral Saturday

    Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in St. Joh n's Lutheran church, the Rev. W.G. Haese officiating. Interment wi ll be in Pioneers' Rest cemetery. The body may be viewed at the Beduhn fun eral home until 10:30 Saturday morning when it will be removed to the chur ch, there to lie in state until the hour of service.

    Mrs. Schmidt, nee Lena Schwake, was born in Rodden, Westphalia, German y, on January 14, 1865, a daughter of the late Henry and Dorothy Schwak e. When she was 16 years of age the family brought her to this country, co ming directly to this city. After residing here for three years the fami ly moved to a farm in the town of Two Rivers.

    Married in 1891

    In 1891, she was married to Louis J. Schmidt of the town of Two River s, the couple moving directly to Sheboygan where Mr. Schmidt became establ ished as a brick manufacturer. Several years later the family moved to Man itowoc and in 1910 settled on a farm in the town of Two Rivers. Her husba nd preceded her in death 14 years ago on the farm home and two years lat er she took up her residence here. Later, for eight years, she resided wi th her brother, William Schwake, and for the past six months at the Hen ry Greenwoods.

    Surviving Mrs. Schmidt are a daughter, Mrs. Henry Greenwood of this cit y, and one son, William T. Schmidt, a general contractor at Elmhurst, Ill ., two sisters, Mrs. Charles Stechmesser of the town of Two Rivers and Mr s. John Goedjen of this city, and three brothers, William, city; Hen ry of Sioux Falls, S.C., and August Schwake of the town of Two Rivers. The re are three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

    Lena married SCHMIDT, Louis Johan in 1891 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, United States. Louis (son of SCHMIDT, Johann Joachim and GARTZ, Dorothea Elizabeth) was born on 12 Jun 1864 in Two Rivers, Manitowoc, Wisconsin, United States; died on 18 Jul 1932; was buried on 20 Jul 1932 in Two Rivers, Manitowoc, Wisconsin, United States.     Greenwood
    Mrs. Henry (Emma) Greenwood, 74, of 1916 27th St., who died late Friday evening at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital where she had been a patient for nine weeks.

    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Rev. Paul Funk officiating. Burial will be in Forest View Cemetery.

    Mrs. Greenwood, nee Emma Schmidt, was born May 4, 1893, at Sheboygan, a daughter of the late Louis J. and Lena (Schwake) Schmidt. When she was a child the family brought her to Two Rivers where she attended St. John Lutheran School and Two Rivers public schools.

    She was married to Henry Greenwood Dec. 2, 1916, at Manitowoc. The couple lived in South Bend, Ind., for five years and in 1922 came to Two Rivers. She was a charter member of Calvary Lutheran Church, a member of the Homemakers' Club and a past member of the Cool City Garden Club.

    Survivors include her husband; three daughters Mrs. Kenneth (Jeanette) Storma of Rhinelander, Mrs. Bill (Mae) Allen of Waycross, Ga., and Mrs. R.F. (Dorothy) Bawden of Shakopee, Minn.; one brother, William Schmidt of Elmhurst, Ill and 10 grandchildren. A daughter Ruth preceded her in death.

    Friends may call at the Deja and Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers, after 3 p.m. Sunday until 10:30 a.m. Monday when the casket will be taken to the church.

    Memorials may be made to Calvary Church or the Wisconsin Cancer Research Dept.

    Greenwood Funeral
    Funeral services for Mrs. Henry (Emma) Greenwood, 74, of 1916 27th St., who died Friday, were at 2 p.m. Monday at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Rev. Paul Funk officiating. Burial was in Forest View Cemetery.

    Pallbearers were Harold and Erhardt Meineke, Edgar Steggmann, Walter Nocker, Alvin Goedjen and Bernard Schwake.
