    Alvin Jindra Sr., 81, of 631 Elm St. Mishicot, a former member of the Manitowoc County Board of Supervisors and a retired Town of Mishicot farmer, died late Saturday at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, where he had been a patient for 10 days.

    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mishicot, the Rev. Herbert Kesting officiating. Burial wi ll be in Mishicot Public Cemetery.

    Mr. Jindra was born Jan. 17, 1889, in the Town of Mishicot, a son of the l ate George and Mary Lenhardt Jindra. He married the former Leona Meine ke at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers, Nov. 7, 1914, after which the couple moved to the Town of Kossuth where Mr. Jindra took ov er the operation of a cheese factory. After 10 years, the family mov ed to Two Rivers, remaining until 1937 when he returned to the Town of Mishicot homestead farm which he operated until retirement in 1958 when the couple moved to Mishicot. His wife preceded him in death in 1959.

    Mr. Jindra was a charter member of the Lake-to-Lake Dairy Cooperative, h ad been a member of the Mishicot High School Board and once served as a supervisor from the Town of Mishicot. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Ethel) Breitwisch of Manitowoc and Mrs. Emil (Grace) Schleis Jr. of Mishicot; three sons, Alvin Jr. of Madison, Roy of Mishicot and Donald of Kiel; two sister s, Mrs Alice Zell of Mishicot(sic), and Miss Hilda Jindra of Griffith, Ind; two brothers George of Dickey, N.D., and Reuben of Two Rivers; 20 grand children and one great grandson. Three brothers and a sister preceded h im in death.

    Friends may call at Lambert Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Tuesday until noon Wednesday when the casket will be taken to the church where the body will lie in state until the time of services. Memorials may be sent to St. Peter Church.

    Green Bay Press-Gazette (WI) - June 29, 2000 Deceased Name: Jindra, Roy W. Roy W. Jindra, 74, of 237 Riverwood Dr., Mishicot, died Tuesday, June 2 7, 2000 at his residence after a brief illness. Roy was born June 11, 19 26 in Two Rivers, son of the late Alvin and Leona Meineke Jindra and has been a life long resident. Mr. Jindra was a 1944 graduate of Mishicot High School. He served in the United States Air Force in Japan during the early years of the Korean Conflict as a Radar Technician. He married the former Carol Grall at St. Peters Ev. Lutheran Church, July 28, 1956. He served as an apprentice for the George Schmidt Plumbing Company in Mishicot, and later purchased the business in 1955 where he owned and operated Jindra Plumbing and Heating until his retirement in 1988. Mr. Jindra was bapti zed and confirmed and was a very faithful member of St. Peters Ev. Luther an Church and was active in the church choir. He was a former member of t he Mishicot Lions Club. He was an accomplished pilot and a founding member of the Mishicot Flying Club, currently the Manitowoc Flying Club. He was also a former member of the Wisconsin Master Plumbers Association, as well as the Board of Control of Manitowoc Lutheran High School. Mr Jindra enjoyed playing the clarinet and saxophone for several area bands and orchestras during the 1950s.

    Survivors include his loving wife, Carol one daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Thomas Winter, Manitowoc four sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Julie Jindra, Manitowoc Scott and Ramona Jindra, Omro Michael and Ines Jindra, Mankato, Minn Peter and Joan Jindra, Green Bay ten grandchildren, Lindsey, Phillip, Justin, Jordon, Amie, Nathan, Zachary, Morgan, Audra and Rachel one sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Emil Schleis, Mishicot two br others and three sisters-in-law, Al and Billie Fey Jindra, Madison Dan a nd Patricia Jindra, Kiel Patricia and her husband, Kenneth Balusik, Menomonee Falls aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

    He was preceded in death by one sister, Ethel Breitwisch.

    Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2000 at St. Peters Ev. Lutheran Church, Mishicot with the Rev. Robert Johannes officiating, with entombment at the Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth, with committal prayers by the Rev. Paul Schleis, who is a godson of Mr. Jindra.

    Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday (TONIGHT), at the Lambert Funeral Home and after 9:30 a.m. on Friday at St. Peters Ev. Lutheran Church.

    In Lieu of other expressions of sympathy a memorial fund has been established in his name for Manitowoc Lutheran High School , St. Peters Ev. Lutheran Church Handicapped Access Fund or the donors choice.
